Valentine’s Day Beer Dinner Huge Success!
This weekend’s Valentine’s Day Beer Dinner was a smashing success.
Thirty-three of our favorite patrons settled in for an evening of delicious food and phenomenal beers.
The meal started off with a salad and a firkin of Bell’s Hopslam – one of only two in the entire state. Being the number one Bell’s beer seller in the state does have its perks.
The Clams Oreganata appetizer was served with Bell’s Hell Hath No Fury Ale, a delicious abbey double (I should know, I had four later that night!).
The biggest hit of the evening, though, was the spinach and wild mushroom lasagna with prosciutto, served with Bell’s flagship beer, Amber Ale.
The Bresilien, from Ghyslain Chocolatier in Union City, was equally delicious and with a pint of Bell’s Porter, it was a great way to finish off the evening.
Our next beer dinner will be in the spring, with a selection of Founders beers. You won’t want to miss it.

The Fickle Peach
Have you ever been to place that felt so natural, that you knew God made this place for you? That is how I feel when I walk into the Fickle Peach tavern in Muncie, IN. I know it’s strange that a bar is something that God made for a person but I think it must be true. It is an oasis for me and for the others that dwell at the Peach.
Hemingway would love this saloon. It has his style and panache. When you walk in you are taken aback by the long old oak bar, with regulars always sitting at the stools. The handcrafted mirrors and archways behind the barkeep’s workplace conjure images of Americana circa 1900. The dark maroon walls are covered with local art work and framed newspapers that have headlines of yesteryear. The Peach is intellectually stimulating as well mind numbing. This paradox keeps me coming back.
It’s a beer lover’s paradise. Choosing form dozens of beers on tap is a difficult task but someone has to do it. Other taverns in Muncie may have more beers to choose from, but they don’t have a kick ass juke box and the best bar tenders in town. Where else can I listen to the New Buck Creek Ramblers and Pink Floyd? It can’t be done.
Thanks to Brian Fickle and Chris Piche for their hard work and dedication. Without them, I think I would be merely drinking crap beer in a dive or Applebees.
When you get a chance stop by 117 E. Charles St Muncie, IN.
